The challenge

Each week during the school holidays, from 1 April to 15 April, visit our Instagram page and watch our special book-hunt-themed reels. The videos provide clues for where to find the golden eggs on our website; they also reveal the fantastic prizes on offer. 

For each video, we will hide one IBC Golden Egg on our website, ready to be discovered by eagle-eyed readers.

• Watch our book-hunt-themed reels for clues, and share the reels to your Stories
• Use the clues to hunt for IBC Golden Eggs on the IBC website
• Found one? Slide into our DMs on @ibc_reads, and message us with the name of book
• Still struggling? Comment with that reel’s chosen word for a final clue! 

We’ll run 5 IBC Golden Egg hunts through the holidays with a new video posted every few days, so with 5 chances to win, you’ve got plenty of time to explore our website and discover brilliant new inclusive books along the way. 

If you don’t find any of the golden eggs, don’t worry! You might just discover your child’s next favourite read instead!

The prizes 

We’ve pulled together an egg-squisite collection of prizes, thanks to our generous creative and cultural partners. Family-friendly days out that are perfect for the school holidays. 

From musical shows to pottery classes, fairy-tale exhibits to historic theatres, every winner will have a truly wonderful experience to remember this Easter. 

Prize 1: 4x tickets to a workshop at Shakespeare’s Globe. These family workshops are a lively, interactive celebration of storytelling and performance, inviting young audiences to explore the Bard’s timeless works through playful activities designed especially for children

Prize 2: A family pottery class at ArtPlay. There’s something wonderfully grounding about letting your hands explore clay. ArtPlay’s pottery classes are joyful, tactile and unforgettable

Prize 3: 2 x adult tickets to accompany free children to the Cartoon Museum. With an established collection of British cartoon, comic strip and caricature artwork and featuring brilliant exhibitions, this London-based museum offers a fascinating and colourful walk through cartoons through time 

Prize 4: 4 x tickets to a fantastic musical theatre show at Polka Theatre. Adapted from a children’s picture book, this music-filled show is a celebration of rapping and storytelling, and a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Prize 5: 2 x sets of tickets for families to visit the Fairy Tales exhibit at British Library. Step inside the imaginative world of the traditional stories that have shaped childhoods for generations. The British Library’s Fairy Tales exhibit is an magical interactive journey, where visitors discover the origins of fairy tales from around the world, encountering favourite and lesser-known stories

Why we created this spring holiday campaign

At IBC, we believe reading is for every child and every family. The school holidays can feel long when you’re juggling work, childcare and everything in between. We wanted to bring a little family fun and quality bonding time to the season: a reason to sit down together, explore the wonderful world of inclusive books, and potentially win a family day out to remember.
