Best Day Ever!

Author: Marilyn SingerIllustrator: Leah Nixon

Best Day Ever! follows a small dog through his day with his ‘best friend’ - his owner, a boy who uses a manual wheelchair. Illustrator Leah Nixon is a wheelchair user, and she captures the boy and his chair accurately and vividly. His disability is unmentioned. The extremes of childhood feelings are nicely captured - ‘best’ or ‘worst’ with nothing in between! Children relish the repetition, and detail in the dog’s perspective - especially the ‘nice dead fish’ that ‘smells great’.
