What is IBC Book Box?
IBC Book Box is a UK-wide bookgifting initiative aimed at increasing access to inclusive books for children across the UK.
You can support this vital intitiative by recommending your local school or community library to apply for the chance to receive one of our free boxes which will contain up to 100 exciting new books.
Who can nominate a school for an IBC Book Box?
Parents, carers or neighbourhood friends, anyone can nominate their local state primary school or community library as long as it is in the UK. When you recommend a school, they will receive a notification that they have been nominated along with everything they need to apply.
Nominations open on Wednesday 18 June 2025 at 10am and close on Friday 18 July 2025 at 11:59 (BST).
Why are we running a free books scheme?
As a not-for-profit literacy organisation our core aim is to help parents, teachers and librarians source more diverse and inclusive books for children.
We know that school and library budgets are severely constrained, which gets in the way of updating their book collections to reflect our richly diverse society.
Supporting primary schools and community libraries to diversify their collections via this bookgifting scheme is therefore a way of achieving our mission.
IBC Book Box offers a wide selection of exciting, top-quality inclusive books, selected by experts in children’s literature, that will be received directly and enjoyed by children.
